In AIR-B I, five sites across the country conducted three randomized clinical trials, focusing on core deficits in children with autism from underserved communities. These studies evaluated two main deficits – language and communication impairment in the home, and social skills impairment in the school setting. In these studies, AIR-B I compared the effectiveness of two treatment forms, evaluating the effectiveness, practicality, and sustainability of these treatments in non-research settings. The network also began developing a web-based tool to improve social functioning, with the purpose of reaching a wider student-base across the country. Our researchers will use the data collected to modify and inform future treatments.

Participating sites include: University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), University of Michigan (UMACC), University of Washington (UW), Florida State University (FSU), and Kennedy Krieger Institute (KKI).
