Tris had the best smile. That smile embodied the man he was- open, warm, and kind; qualities that are particularly remarkable for a person whose profession is measured by individual accomplishments. Yet Tris managed to be both extremely prolific in our field and also a team player among us, building up those around him with thoughtful encouragement and a listening ear. I was fortunate to have benefitted from many years of friendship, mentorship and collegiality with Tris. Our AIR-B team and the world of autism research and treatment have suffered a great loss, but I am confident that his legacy will live on in the important work he accomplished and personal imprints he left with colleagues, friends, and families of individuals with ASD.

Tris always had a ready laugh and a playful way about him that filled me with warm admiration. Welcoming us all to be positively engaged in doing good work with him was his priority. I feel lucky to have had him as a collaborator and I know that his generous, kind spirit will inspire us all to continue working toward improving outcomes with people with Autism, their families and communities. I will miss him greatly.
